Hello Lisa,

I am a vet that works with shelters and foster homes.

I have a neighbor that needs help with homing his dog until he finds a home of his own. He really does not want to surrender his dog to a shelter, so he called me to see if I could help.

Teddy is a 5yo NM Lab X who used to live with three kids in a home. The family is looking to move (separate homes) and needs to find a home for the dog while the owner is able to buy his home. The dog is house trained but need authority and a trained person to take care of him. He gets along well with children  but my understanding is that he needs to know who is the boss. He listens well to the father but loves to walk around with kids shoes in his mouth when dad is not around.

I know this dog is stressed and will do much better if placed at a home that is stable and is able to provide him with 30 min or more walks a day. He is well behaved and loves family live.

Do you think we can help this poor dog? The family is going through a lot of stress BUT they have really put a lot of effort on keeping the family well, the kids are happy and the dog is well, the parents are recently divorced but are being extremely considerate of the kids and the dog. I recommended rehoming the dog but the father really wants to keep him, he just cant until he finds a home. The fostering will take 1 to 2 months so the commitment to keep Teddy is that long.

Please let me know if you are able to help Teddy for 1 to 2 months!!

thanks
Rosario
